Research & Knowledge Management

Insight-Driven Legal Excellence

At Hansen Advocates, we recognise that robust legal research, policy development, and structured knowledge management are the foundation of impactful legal practice and effective regulatory engagement. In an increasingly complex and fast-evolving legal and policy environment, informed decision-making and well-developed policy frameworks are essential for shaping outcomes, influencing regulation, and delivering meaningful results for our clients.

Our Legal Research, Policy & Knowledge Management practice goes beyond traditional legal analysis to include the development of high-quality policy papers, regulatory position papers, and thought leadership briefs. We support clients, institutions, and stakeholders in interpreting the law, shaping policy direction, and engaging effectively with regulatory and governance frameworks in Kenya and across comparative jurisdictions.

We regularly develop policy papers, legal memoranda, and regulatory submissions on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, financial regulation, technology and digital economy policy, data protection, environmental and climate change regulation, sports governance, land and real estate policy, and public sector legal reform. These outputs are designed to support advocacy, regulatory engagement, institutional decision-making, and strategic planning.

Our work combines rigorous legal research methodologies with structured policy analysis, legislative interpretation, comparative legal review, and stakeholder impact assessment. We translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, actionable policy insights that can be used by corporates, regulators, development partners, industry associations, and public institutions.

In addition to policy development, we maintain a strong internal knowledge management system that ensures consistency, accuracy, and depth across all advisory work. This allows us to draw on legal precedent, sectoral insights, and institutional experience when developing policy positions or advising on regulatory reform and compliance strategies.

Our policy-focused approach supports clients across multiple sectors, including financial services, fintech, real estate, sports governance, technology, healthcare, and environmental regulation. We also assist organisations engaging with government agencies, regulators, and policy-making bodies to ensure their positions are well-articulated, legally sound, and strategically persuasive.

At Hansen Advocates, we believe that law and policy are deeply interconnected. Our commitment to policy research and development enables us to contribute not only to client success but also to broader legal and regulatory advancement in Kenya and beyond.

Whether preparing policy papers, regulatory submissions, or strategic legal research, we deliver insights that are authoritative, practical, and designed to influence real-world outcomes.

Beyond legal practice, Hansen holds key leadership roles in sports governance. He serves as Chairman of Stingers Rugby Club and as Secretary to the Kenya Rugby Union Constitution Review Committee, where he contributes to institutional reform, governance strengthening, and policy development within Kenyan rugby.

Here’s a fun twist: when he’s not reshaping Kenya’s legal landscape or crafting game-changing policies, Hansen might just surprise you with his hidden talent. He is a skilled rapper with a knack for dropping bars as smooth as his courtroom arguments. With an unrivaled blend of professionalism, creativity, and a touch of rhythm, Hansen is redefining what it means to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact.
